Yes, this can be done by logging in to the device web interface.
Device Web Management Interface
Device Web Management Interface
Device Configuration via Web Based Interface
Once you have successfully flashed your device, the manufacturer’s web interface will no longer be accessible. Instead, we have developed a custom web interface which you can log in to.
NOTE: You are not required to log in to this interface unless you need to change any connection settings.
The web interface allows you to:
- Perform diagnostics to check the device can connect to the Internet and talk to our service
- Configure the Internet connection to use either DHCP, Static IP, 3G/4G or PPPoE
- Restore the device back to factory firmware
To access the web interface, first ensure you have an Ethernet cable plugged in to port 1, 2 or 3 on the back of the device*. Your PC should pick up an IP address in the range of 172.16.25.xx. You can now gain access to the web interface by visiting http://172.16.25.25 in your web browser.
You will be prompted for a username and password, which can be found below:
- Username: setup
- Password: *available from your portal under Hardware > Config*
* If you have a device that only has one Ethernet port (which by default is the Internet / WAN port), you can still connect to the web interface through a pre-configured wireless network called “Setup”. Open the wireless network screen on your PC and you should see an SSID called “Setup”. You will need the wireless key, which is available from your support team.
Status Page
Once logged in you will be presented with a status page:
This status page will check to see that everything is contactable from your Internet connection and can be useful to determine the source of a problem if you are having issues with the service. In case of a problem, the green tick icon will change to a red or amber warning icon, like so:
Here you can see that there is a DNS problem and therefore problems will be apparent when using the service.
Network Setup
As mentioned above the device is set to obtain an IP automatically via DHCP from your existing network. If this works, then there is no need to change any settings unless you have a particular requirement. The below screen will allow you to choose between the following settings:
- DHCP (default)
- Static IP
- 3G/4G
- PPPoE
DHCP
This is the default option and if you have no problems there is no need to change this.
Static IP
If you need to set a static IP for the WAN connection, for example because you do not run DHCP on your network or wish to ensure your device always has a fixed IP, then enter the following information:
- Static IP (The IP you want to assign to the WAN connection)
- Subnet Mask (typically 255.255.255.0)
- Default Gateway (The IP of your broadband router or gateway device)
3G/4G modem
If you wish to use a 3G/4G USB modem/dongle for your Internet connection you can do so, providing your device has a USB port. Only supported USB modems will work, as these have been thoroughly tested in our labs to ensure compatibility. Other modems may work, but we can’t guarantee it. Be sure to contact us if your modem is not on the list and we may be able to add it for you to try.
Important #1: Ensure your USB modem is plugged in to the device before you configure this page.
Important #2: Ensure you are using the correct details, as your provider may charge you extra for the data consumption if you make a mistake. We are not responsible for any data charges accrued by using your 3G/4G modem with our service.
Depending on the model of USB modem you have the screen will present the required configuration boxes which you will need to complete. Typically, you will need the following information, all of which your mobile/cellular provider will be able to confirm.
- APN (this is provided by your mobile/cellular provider, please contact them to obtain)
- Username
- Password
- SIM Pin
Some USB modems do not require the above settings as they are already hard coded in to the device by the provider, so just click Save and Apply.
The device will now attempt to establish a connection via the USB modem. It can take a few minutes for this to happen whilst the signal is received and the network is dialled up.
Be sure to click on the Status tab at the top to check the status of the 3G/4G connection.
PPPoE
If you are using a DSL or Cable connection and your ISP requires you to connect via PPPoe (not PPPoA!) you can configure the device to do this. You will need the following information:
- Username (the username your ISP has provided)
- Password (the password your ISP has provided)
The device will now attempt to establish a connection via PPPoE. It can take a few minutes for this to happen whilst the connection to your ISP is successful.
Be sure to click on the Status tab at the top to check the status of the PPPoE connection.
Restore Factory Firmware
If you need to put the factory firmware back on to your device for any reason you can do so via this page. You will see a link on the page to download the original firmware which you need to use.
Important: Only use the firmware provided in the link on this page. Do not download the firmware from your manufacturer’s site as it will not be compatible with the custom firmware that is now present on your device. The original firmware link we provide is still the original firmware but with a slight modification to allow it to be restored successfully.
Once you have downloaded the firmware via the provided link, click the Browse button and select the file you just downloaded.
Click Continue and you will be provided with a confirmation page once the firmware has been validated:
Click Flash Firmware to confirm. The following page will be presented:
The device will now take around 5 minutes to revert back to the original firmware. Once this completes you should be able to connect to the default web interface like when you first purchased the device .
